What makes the NeoGen Plasma regeneration treatments unique?

Plasma is the fourth state of matter. Plasma is similar to a gas but with many of its atoms broken into electrically charged particles, both negatively-charged electrons and positively-charged ions.

Examples of plasma include lightning, the Aurora Borealis and fluorescent tube lamps.

What is special about nitrogen plasma?

Nitrogen plasma is a source of thermal energy which is highly conductive and readily permeates skin. Heat released from the plasma has a profound effect at and beneath the skin’s surface, causing thermal disruption to the whole architecture of the skin, penetrating as deep as the reticular dermis.

Nitrogen plasma does not depend on the interaction with a specific target chromophore or rely on a specific wavelength for efficacy. The depth of penetration is influenced by the skin’s level of hydration, as the energy is conducted via water.

How does the NeoGen Plasma skin treatment work?

NeoGen uses ultra-high radio frequency to ionize medical grade nitrogen gas from a pressurised cylinder, creating nitrogen plasma in the nozzle, which delivers a controlled pulse of plasma thermal energy.  The temperature on the surface of the skin ranges from 70 to 165 degrees Celsius, and the pulse duration is 15 milliseconds.

The pressurised pulse of nitrogen plasma purges oxygen from the treatment area, preventing charring of the skin. The level of energy delivered to the skin determines the depth of penetration, and associated levels of tightening, resurfacing and regeneration effects.

When the plasma pulse impacts the skin, the thermal energy locked up in the plasma is released, causing a localized instantaneous heating of the skin and immediate tissue contraction.

The treated stratum corneum and epidermal layers always remain intact, acting as an insulator during treatment and a natural biological dressing post treatment. This natural barrier provides optimal healing conditions and significantly reduces the risk of infections and complications.

A new epidermis is formed at the Line of Cleavage between the Zone of Thermal Damage (ZTD) and the Zone of Thermal Modification (ZTM). At higher energy settings the epidermis and upper dermis are shed once the new epidermis has formed after 3 to 5 days. At lower energy settings the top 5 to 6 cells of the stratum corneum are shed after 1 to 2 days.

Unlike other technologies, the whole of the skin’s surface and architecture is treated, leaving no islands of untreated skin. Regeneration of the reticular architecture of the upper dermis can be achieved using either a single high-energy or multiple low-energy treatments.

Cascade of neo-collagenization has been stimulated through thermal disruption of dermal solar elastosis, along with neovascularization, and fibroblasts from the deeper dermis migrate to restore the skin to healthier function and appearance. Long-term studies show a continuing neocollagenesis producing sustainable improvements up to a year following treatment.

What makes NeoGen Plasma so unique?

  • It treats and modifies the whole skin architecture
  • It treats multiple indications simultaneously
  • It treats the whole body, including the peri-ocular area
  • Treated skin forms a natural barrier to aid recovery
  • Treatment protocols can be tailored to meet client needs:
    • High energy – corrective treatments, achieving fully ablative CO2 results with significantly less: downtime, treatment risks and post treatment complications
    • Low energy – life-long preventive and maintenance treatments, achieving substantial improvement with minimal downtime, inconvenience or discomfort
